We are a busy congregation involved in missions, running an op shop and even finding time for a book club. Whatever your age and stage in your faith journey, explore what’s on offer and where you might be to offer your gifts and talents. All are welcome in our churches. If you need to talk to someone, please visit or call us.

Congregation of the Uniting Church in Australia

The Uniting Church in Australia (UCA) was a union of three denominations in 1977 – Methodist, Presbyterian and Congregational churches. The congregation is on Port Phillip Bay, about 32 kilometres from the city of Melbourne, and we are on the Frankston train line to the city. We are a beach-side suburb close to beautiful, internationally recognised wetlands visited yearly by migrating birds.

Carrum is our oldest congregation which was established as a Methodist Church in 1900. We are a small congregation and have a small Sunday school. We run our Op Shop in the original church building. Proceeds from the Op Shop, which is run by volunteers from the church and the community, help support our finances and community organisations. We have two tennis courts, and we have social tennis played on Tuesday morning and Sunday afternoon.

In Chelsea; Congregational, Presbyterian and Methodist churches came together as a United Church before becoming part of the UCA. The Congregational Church began in 1911 and being the first church in Chelsea, it was full just 6 months after the church building was built and, before long had to be extended. The Methodist Church was built in 1915 by a working bee in one day and was officially opened the very next day. Amazing. It wouldn’t happen like that today. The Presbyterian Church was established in 1937. We use the Presbyterian complex today, with our current worship space being built just after the union. Since we have joined Edithvale church, Chelsea has an attendance of 50-55 at worship. It also has a Sunday School.

Edithvale UC is a former Methodist Church established in 1912. Members currently worship at Chelsea church.

Our church also partners with the Chelsea Church of Christ to offer a free Community Breakfast in Chelsea once a week, where we serve more than 60 breakfasts.
